Neuschwanstein Caslte
The fairy-tale castle that inspired Walt Disney is steeped in history and always worth a visit.
One of the most famous buildings in the world and the place of longing of countless girls and boys: Neuschwanstein Caslte near Füssen in Germany’s Allgäu region. With its elegant limestone façade, its towers and turrets rising high into the sky, and its magnificent interiors and halls, it enchants people from all over the world. The great thing for our guests: It’s located only a 30-minute drive from our hotel with day spa in Tyrol.
Although Neuschwanstein Castle seems to date back to the Middle Ages, it is not that old: Bavarian King Ludwig II had it built in 1869. He had the building created as an idealised representation of a medieval knight’s castle and as a pompous home for himself and his closest confidants. Only years later was it completed. In the end, the king himself spent just a few months living in the castle: What a twist of fate! Today, the magnificent building where the king once lived a secluded life is visited by more than a million people a year. Visit it too during your next stay in Berwang!
